Hitachi Air
Conditioning Systems Ltd., a leading supplier of air conditioning solutions,
has launched a series of new PLC (Power Line Communication) enabled A/C
products. These products, now available in the Japanese market, are based on
Yitran's IT800 high-performance narrowband PLC chip, enabling monitoring and
control of air conditioners over the existing electrical wires.
"This important step is well within
Hitachi's vision, to create richer lives and a better society by providing
products, systems, and services with a new level of value and potential
based on the latest advances in technology", said Mr. Takazumi Ishizu,
President and Director, Hitachi Air Conditioning Systems. "The
partnership with Yitran, the robustness of the communication offered by the
IT800 chip and its low cost, enable us to 'Inspire the Next' and will enable
more products targeting enhanced comfort and better life quality."
The launch
made by Hitachi follows the adoption of the IT800 chip as baseline
technology for the home automation standard issued by the Japanese ECHONET
consortium and the launch of a variety of PLC enabled appliances also based
on Yitran's IT800, made earlier this year by LG Electronics.
"We are very
excited that our IT800 chip is embedded in Hitachi's new line of A/C
products and that we are further strengthening our position in the command
and control market", said Avner Matmor, Yitran's CEO. "We've achieved yet
another important milestone and our technology is being established as the
standard for PLC in-home automation. This is also another step towards the
implementation of the 'Smart Home' concept. After LG and Hitachi, we expect
additional manufacturers, currently in advanced development stages, to
introduce additional IT800 based PLC enabled appliances and products for the
home".
