Echonet Protocol Over ITRAN’S IT800D PLC Modem IC
Demonstrated in CEATEC 2004 Exhibition

ITRAN’S IT800 Power Line Communication (PLC) technology was demonstrated by ITRAN’S Japanese partners, Renesas Technology (www.renesas.com/eng/) and Hitachi ULSI (www.hitachi-ul.co.jp), during the CEATEC 2004 exhibition (http://www.ceatec.com), held in Tokyo Japan in the beginning of the month.

Hitachi ULSI, a subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd, presented an impressive Echonet over PLC enabled A/C system demonstration, based on Hitachi’s ULTRA-PLC module. The module incorporates ITRAN'S IT800D PLC modem IC and Hitachi's H8 MCU running the Echonet protocol and targeting narrowband PLC applications. Hitachi-ULSI also presented its development kit, allowing straightforward implementation of Echonet PLC enabled devices and already available for customers.

“This low cost yet high performance and robust technologies combination is ideal for command and control networks, such as connected electrical appliances and HVAC systems implemented over the existing power line infrastructure”, said Avner Matmor, ITRAN’S CEO. “Our reliable PLC technology and the fruitful collaboration with our Japanese partners, leading companies in the command and control market, enable us to be in a strong position as a leading provider of technology for the ‘smart home’ and industrial control markets”, he added.
ITRAN and its partners will demonstrate similar products and technologies in the coming Net-atHome 2004 exhibition, in Nice, France (www.net-athome.com).
