ITRAN Donated its PITEL PLC (Power Line Communication) Internet Access Demo System for the Benefit of the Community
|
ITRAN Communications (www.yitran.com), a leading provider of PLC modem chips, has donated and
installed its PITEL Internet access demo system (named after ITRAN’S late management member,
Samuel Pitel), in a local educational institute. The donation was made to “Beit Ariel”
(the Ariel House), an institute for technological education for children, located in the
vicinity of ITRAN’S headquarters in the city of Beer-Sheva. The institute is supported by ITRAN
as part of its community involvement program.
“Getting involved with the community in Beer Sheva, when we can is important to us”, said Avner Matmor,
ITRAN’S CEO. “This donation was made as a contribution to a program that helps education of young
children. The system allows turning every electrical outlet in the institute to an Internet node for
the benefit of the children and the staff. It was also very important to us to pay our respects to our
late friend and colleague Samuel Pitel. This donation has a special meaning for us, since he was the
person who initiated the support activity to this institute”.
The PITEL system is based on ITRAN’S high performance ITC1-ITM1 PLC chipset. It enables
demonstrations of Internet distribution in buildings, campuses and commercial facilities over the
existing electrical wires with no need for a dedicated communication infrastructure.
The system functionality includes three types of network elements: base station, repeater station and
remote station (CPE), as well as a basic network management software.
