SANTA CLARA, California,
October 9 2007 –
Yitran announces the
availability of HomePlug Command & Control (HPCC)
ready powerline networking IC products, the IT800D
and the upcoming IT700. These ICs are ideally suited
for a variety of Home Automation, Building
Automation and Electric Utility Automation
applications and priced optimally for mass market
adoption. The HPCC V1.0 standard is based on
Yitran’s IT800 powerline transceiver technology,
with the contribution of the HomePlug Technical
Evaluation Group (TEG) members such as:
Ariane
Controls, Corporate Systems Engineering, GE, Huawei,
LG Electronics, RadioShack and Simply Automated.
Avner Matmor, Co-Founder and
the CEO of Yitran said: "Yitran wishes to thank the
HomePlug BOD as well as the HPCC TEG members for its
tremendous work in ratifying a spec that will
revolutionize the Home Command and Control market as
well as the Energy Management and Energy
Conservation space. The HPCC V1.0 defines a standard
technology that can sustained any Powerline grid
condition, provides full home communication coverage
as well as full connectivity in a very poor grid
conditions recognized in some areas in the world,
like China, India and others, and at a very small
die size and cost. Yitran has allowed using its
patents to make sure that the HPCC V1.0 will be
produced by multi chip vendors for free, as it
believes the market needs multiple sources to
succeed and fulfill the expected huge and versatile
demand".
The IT800D SoC integrates the
HPCC V1.0 compliant MAC/PHY with an ARM7 CPU core.
This is a modem IC with a 64K Mask ROM running the
data link layer software and is currently in MP. The
IT700 is a highly integrated next generation low
cost IC combining an extended 8051 CPU core, HPCC
V1.0 compliant MAC/PHY, 256K Flash and 16K RAM.
Manufactured on a 0.18u flash technology, the IC
comes in a QFN48 package.
Compared to the current IT800D
IC, the IT700 integrates many of the components
including the line driver inside the chip and takes
in a single 3.3v input. The overall number of
external components necessary to create a node is
much less than the current IT800D product. The chip
is fully backward compatible to work with the IT800D
applications. In addition, the data link layer will
be upgraded to include 128-bit AES encryption
offering data security at the packet level defined
by HPCC V1.0. Commercial samples of the IT700 and
the starter kit will be available in 2Q08 with MP
scheduled for 3Q08.
Yitran is also pleased to
announce the availability of a companion network
layer software suite called “Y-NET”. Y-Net combines
the advantages of Yitran’s extremely robust and
reliable IT800 PLC modem technology with enhanced
Networking capabilities such as Plug & Play, Logical
Network Creation, Master-Slave and Peer-to-Peer
Network Configurations, Multiple Network Topologies
(Fully Connected, Mesh, Tree), Multiple Network
Support, Selective and Secure Participation of
Nodes, Dynamic Routing/Repeating, Failure Detection,
Network Parameter Recovery, etc.
It allows application
developers and system integrators not only seamless
evaluation of the PLC modem performance, but also
dramatically reduce the system development cycle.
Yitran will continue to offer a
robust and progressive technology roadmap aiming at
100Kbps rate. Yitran will continue its contribution
to the HomePlug alliances in reaching this goal for
HPCC next version
To spur the availability of ICs
from multiple sources, Yitran will license the HPCC
V1.0 technology free of charge to semiconductor
manufacturers.
