MAC/DLL for Narrowband and Broadband
Solutions
Yitran offers its high performance, PLC
optimized, royalty free MAC (Medium Access Control Layer)/DLL (Data Link
Layer) on top of its uniquely robust and reliable narrowband and broadband PHY
(Physical Layer).

Distributed
MAC for Broadband Solutions
Optimized for power line communication,
Yitran's distributed MAC implementation is designed to support a wide
variety of broadband applications.
Based on proven MAC protocol standards
and concepts (such as IEEE 802.11), our distributed MAC integrates patented
and patent pending enhancements specially adapted for the power line
medium. By controlling various parameters (such as packet size, power
level and rate), Yitran’s MAC enables superior power line physical layer
performance.
Implemented primarily in hardware (the
ITC1 chip), the Yitran MAC employs a small amount of software code that is
easily and cost-effectively integrated into a variety of low cost
micro-controllers and requires limited memory.

Main Features and Benefits Include:
CSMA/CA line
access using unique RTS/CTS mechanism
Support for
short packet transmission without RTS/CTS
Physical
and virtual carrier sense functions ensure minimum collisions in the
channel
Quality of
Service (“QoS”) (priorities, limit for channel capture time, adaptive
back-off and more)
Rate and
power adaptation to channel quality
Support for
transmission of single Ethernet packet in one burst
ARQ and
partial ARQ
Unicast and
broadcast transmissions
Complete
solution (when combined with Yitran’s physical layer ICs) for USB, Ethernet
and embedded power line node implementations

Peer-to-Peer DLL for Narrowband
Solutions
Optimized for power line communication,
Yitran's DLL implementation is designed to support a wide variety of narrowband
applications.
Based on proven protocol standards and
concepts (such as IEEE 802.11), our DLL integrates patented and patent
pending enhancements specially adapted for the power line medium, such as
Adaptive Back-off mechanism. These enhancements together with a simple command
language Host interface enable quick and simple implementation of a high
performance PLC narrowband network for Command and Control, Automation and
a variety of additional applications
Integrated
in the IT800SCP and IT800D on top of the PHY, the DLL requires no
additional resources and seamlessly maximizing the utilization of the PHY.

CSMA/CA line
access with Adaptive Back-off (patent pending)
Adaptive
rate control adaptation to channel quality
Support for
up to 1023 logical networks with up to 2047 nodes per network
Acknowledged,
unacknowledged and repetitive unacknowledged services (packet transmission
and reception)
Configurable
packet structure enables compliance with world wide communication and
networking standards
Long packet
support (packet fragmentation and re-assembly of up to 1521 Bytes)
Network
diagnostics and analysis
Integrated
to the IT800 PHY in a single chip solution (IT800SCP and IT800D)
Simple
command language Host interface
