information from the meters on the power line.
In such systems a
concentrator is placed near the neighborhood transformer, which collects
the data from the electricity meters located in the houses connected to
this transformer. Thedata is then transferred from the concentrator to the
central office usingthe mid-voltage power grid, a telephone, a wireless
link or a fiber media.The system is also used for additional value added
services like energymanagement and flexible tariffs.
