The Kansai Electric Power Company and ITRAN Communications Announce the Establishment of Linecom, Inc.
New Joint Venture Company Unites the World's Eighth Largest Electric Power Company With a Global Leader in Power Line Telecommunication Technology to Develop and Deploy Power Line-Based Telecommunication Systems in Japan

The Kansai Electric Power Company, Inc. (Tokyo Stock Exchange: 9503) (``Kansai EP'') and ITRAN Communications, Ltd. (``ITRAN'') announce the formation of Linecom, Inc., a joint venture company for the development and deployment of power line telecommunications systems in Japan.
Linecom will leverage Kansai EP's knowledge of power distribution systems and technology and ITRAN's industry-leading power line communication (``PLC'') technology to develop and deploy a complete end-to-end solution for the provision of telecommunication services over the existing power line infrastructure.
Another member of the joint venture is Matsushita Electric Works, Ltd. (Tokyo Stock Exchange: 6991), a leading wiring and information device/system provider in Japan, providing the JV with its expertise in system integration and product design.
By wedding Kansai EP's knowledge of the power line and its 12 million customers, ITRAN's PLC technology, and the JV's openness to additional value- added partners, Linecom is uniquely suited to deliver the best PLC Access system for the Japanese market. ITRAN's PLC technology has undergone extensive testing in numerous Home-Networking as well as ``Last Mile'' Access environments in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Far East. In all of these settings ITRAN's technologies were found to provide excellent reliable and safe performance.
